Thai Massage Techniques & Benefits
Thai Massage has been practiced in Thailand for
centuries, and lots of other Asian countries have
integrated these techniques into their therapeutic practices as
well. Customarily, Thai Massage was done by monks, who
incorporated other Ayurvedic therapeutic
procedures during their massage sessions.
Along with massage, monks also provided dietary
advice, herbs, and spiritual guidance with the goal of
clients creating balanced bodies and spirits. Thai Massage
techniques started to leave the temple and moved into many
different settings in the last century. For example, now
lots of Thai hospitals provide massage as part of medical
therapy.
Thai massage technique basically involves deep
tissue massage and stretching. This type of bodywork is
generally performed on the ground, and the customer wears comfy
clothes that enable motion. No oils are applied during Thai
massage sessions.
Thai massage is conducted with all of your clothing
on; so many people advise it if you think you are not
comfortable with the nudity throughout a Swedish treatment. But
it's not a good option for first time spa-goers.
The expert actually uses his/her body, including his/her
feet, to maneuver your body to different postures throughout a
Thai massage session, and in certain methods it feels very
personal compared to Swedish massage in
which you lay on the massage table and are covered with white
sheets.
The Thai Massage is invigorating and
stimulating, and both the therapist and client
typically feel pressure and much more energy upon completing
the session.
Like other types of massage treatment, Thai
Massage is encouraged at least once monthly to work, although
consistency of more than once per week might be contraindicated
in some instances. Thai Massage would work for many clients,
such as elderly and disabled, because of its soft nature and
non-invasive strategies.
As you can see Thai massage has many mental and physical
advantages over other types of massage. If you have never
had one before, I encourage you to find an expert
massage therapist in your area.
